Considering the depth of the world and the seriousness of the whole situation, I'd might as well spin off an AU from the story specifically for messing around and toying with ideas.
Much of the new story will probably consist of me poking fun at certain quirks and aspects of the characters and world in general, though there's a chance that there may be an occasional hidden spoiler...
Alrighty, so for those of you who are interested in a document with all of the info on the world of Pony-Me collected in one place, or for those interested in working on the collab, here's a thing I've written.
The document below the break goes over everything from the setting, to the lore, to even the economic feasibility of Pony-Me based on current e-commerce and DLC practices.
To fill in for regular updates, I'll instead be writing and posting a number of prequel chapters for Pony-Me, giving additional detail on how and why certain characters became the way they are now, as well as revealing additional lore that up to this point, has largely remained unseen in my story planning document.
Would you like for it to instead be a sidestory taking place in the same universe? I still have exactly one unnamed side character in the same volunteer group as Lisa Garnet, and I could probably fit in a nice backstory to make up for how Pony-Me builds off of MLP rather than setting things up itself.
I've actually been enjoying writing for Pony-MeTM for the past few days. Compared to how the plot of the Lab Horse series had begun to stagnate in the latter portion of Equestrian Human, Pony-Me is instead pretty open-ended, and gives me a ton of new material to work with as far as worldbuilding goes.
I'm also liking the writing style that I've been using for it, and I can already tell that it's kinda bleeding into some of the other things that I've been writing.
I finally got the time to do my usual late-night writing, and what happens? I refresh the stats page, and somebody turned their like into a dislike, and untracked the story. Not bashing on them or anything, but helpful criticism is a lot better than just leaving me to try and figure out what went wrong after seeing a downvote materialize. :P
I don't know why I'm writing this blog. Could be boredom, could be the near-burnout talking, idk.
Either way, even though the story's still on hiatus and I've got a set completion point already, I was thinking it'd be fun to find out what everyone's final opinions (or at least, near-final) are on the story.
Yup. Finally working on a new Pony-Me chapter to add to the stockpile, though there's I think two or three chapters ahead of it to be published still.
Anyway, this thing's gonna be an expansion on the road trip arc of the old Pony-Me. Since this fic overall has been a bit more lighthearted, especially without the old Pinkie/Samantha dynamic, I feel like it'd be fitting to have the road trip double as Samantha's excuse to go on vacation. :V
writing the same 3k-word chapter twice is both fun and annoying at the same time.
But, the chapter I'm droppin' tonight is a sweet & simple 800-something. Just chapter stockpiling stuff. :V
If you were a fan of the OG Pony-Me and haven't gotten into the reboot quite yet, the chapter that dropped tonight is roughly at the point where Lisa attends the town meetings.
Planning out the currently-unfinished second half of the story, with attention given to giving each OC submitted the story time that I believe I can give them.
Beyond HD quality, but I forgot to add lighting. EDIT: apparently Fimfiction breaks with the massive image. I've got a small stockpile of chapters lined up to publish again. I'll be posting from that daily until I run out, and from there updates will slow to around once a week or so, give or take a few days.
Also, tagging this with Pony-Me until Into Equestria gets far enough off the ground.
